The “Kimono Deconstructed” Series

Kimono that belong to the “Kimono deconstructed” series have been adjusted by us so that they can be worn like a coat or dress, depending on the texture of the silk. Some have been shortened, others have been reworked so that nothing has been added or taken away. If the seams were opened again you would have the original shape.

Die “Kimono deconstructed” Reihe

Kimono, die zur „Kimono deconstructed“ Serie gehören wurden von uns so angepaßt, dass sie wie ein Mantel oder Kleid getragen werden können, je nach Beschaffenheit der Seide. Manche wurden gekürzt, andere so umgearbeitet, dass weder etwas hinzugefügt noch weggenommen wurde. Würden die Nähte wieder geöffnet hätte man die Ursprungsform.

General condition of antique kimono

The kimonos used are in a condition appropriate to their age, some in exceptionally good condition. They may, however, have flaws such as holes, stains, colour shifts, which may affect or underline their beauty. It is obvious that they are not an industrially manufactured serial product, but a handmade solitary that has been stored and worn in different places over the years and across the continents.
Some have paintings and embroidery, all handmade, as well as the complete original kimono. There are fine decorative seams that outline the edge lines and there are shape seams that, unlike the decorative seams, are for storage only. Removed before wearing, they do not spoil the kimono, as they were only meant for shape retention. We have left them mostly, as another handmade element.

Zustand der antiken Kimono im Allgemeinen

Die verwendeten Kimonos sind in einem ihrem Alter entsprechenden, manche in außergewöhnlich gutem Zustand. Es kann dennoch sein, dass sie Makel aufweisen wie Löcher, Flecken, Farbverschiebungen, was ihre Schönheit zumeist noch betont. Es ist offensichtlich, dass sie kein industriell gefertigtes Serienprodukt sind, sondern ein handgefertigter Soltär, der über die Jahre und über die Kontinente an verschiedenen Orten gelagert und getragen wurde.
Manche sind mit Malereien und Stickereien versehen, alles handgearbeitet, sowie auch der komplette, ursprüngliche Kimono. Es gibt feine Ziernähte, welche die Kantenlinien konturieren und es gibt Lagernähte, die im Gegensatz zu den Ziernähten nur für die Aufbewahrung gedacht sind. Sie wurden ursprünglich vor dem erneuten Tragen entfernt ohne den Kimono zu beschädigen, da sie nur für die Formfixierung gedacht waren. Wir haben sie zumeist belassen, als weiteres handgemachtes Element.
