The antique Japanese kimono coat “Gao Shan” from the Shelter series has as motif a mountain landscape hand-painted with houses, rocks and waterfall. The color gradient is in broken blue and falls to the hem in a deep dark blue. The outer fabric here is also linen gauze. Light, rough and slightly translucent.

Der antike, japanische Kimono-Mantel “Gao Shan” aus der Shelter-Serie hat zum Motiv eine Gebirgslandschaft handbemalt mit Häusern, Felsen und Wasserfall. Der Farbverlauf ist in gebrochenem Blau und fällt zum Saum hin ab in ein tiefes dunkles Blau. Der Oberstoff besteht auch hier aus Leinen-Gaze. Leicht, rauh und leicht durscheinend.

Kimono deconstructed /Shelter series

“Shelter” is another coat series from the Kimono Deconstructed series.
Each piece is a solitaire and consists of an antique silk Underkimono, smooth, light, shimmering with hand-painted illustrations and with dyed gradients. The sleeves are flared, long and wide. They cover the hands partially or completely. The outside is made of linen, also light but rough and coarse, slightly translucent. It contrasts with the Underkimono. As the name suggests, this type of kimono is originally worn – invisible from the outside – under a heavier kimono. Beauty is hidden.
The idea of “Shelter” takes that on. What is lining, what is visible? Showing the magnificent or a promise? Is it not obvious with the rough shell to protect the layer that is light and ornate.
“Shelter” it is called, also because of the feeling of security. Wrapped, with a lot of space and with lightness.

“Shelter” ist eine weitere Mantel Serie aus der Kimono-Deconstructed-Reihe.
Jedes Stück ist ein Solitär und besteht aus einem antiken Unterkimono aus Seide, glatt, leicht, schimmernd, mit handgemalten Illustrationen und gefärbten Verläufen. Die Ärmel sind ausgelassen, lang und weit. Sie verdecken die Hände teils oder ganz. Die Außenseite besteht aus Leinen, ebenfalls leicht aber rauh und grob, leicht durchscheinend. Sie steht im Kontrast zum Unterkimono. Wie der Name schon sagt wird diese Art Kimono ursprünglich – von außen unsichtbar – unter einem schwereren Kimono getragen. Man versteckt die Schönheit.
Die Idee von „Shelter“ nimmt das auf. Was ist Futter, was ist sichtbar? Das Prunkvolle zeigen oder ein Versprechen? Ist es nicht naheliegend mit der rauhen Schale die Schicht zu schützen, die leicht ist und kunstvoll verziert.
